[from] the irony and humor of clichés of the heart… came about this collection of ceramic sculptures.

"Although the heart is no more than a pump maintaining the circulation of blood, the word heart has been used in English language to mean love, compassion, courage, personality, etc. Sometime last year, I was hooked on this heart, first medically, and then on the abundant myths derived from it.

Then a strong urge fell upon me to sculpture the irony and humor of clichés of the heart. So came about this collection of ceramic sculptures. I would not of course make a replica of the physical heart, but instead I use the heart symbol. Perhaps, I am gambling dangerously with this mundane shape; a most abused symbolic shape in our daily living. Come and see them yourself. Otherwise, eat your heart out!"

The Heart and Myth series was created between 1988 and 1991.
